Helios
Summon
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: SUMMON; signed via Godz Ov War Productions, hailing from Portuguese grounds - performing Black/Death Metal, on their 2nd EP entitled: "Helios" (released February 2nd, 2020).
Since formation 2016; the quartet in question have 1 full-length album entitled: "Parazv IL Zilittv" (released April 20th, 2018), and 2 EPs one entitled: "Aesthetics Of Demise" (released June 14th, 2017), and this here 2nd EP entitled: "Helios". 3 tracks ranging at around 19:56; SUMMON arrange an intricately designed formula of heavy-hitting Black/Death Metal developments. "Helios I" begins the EP; amalgamating a gnarly blend of blistering distortion, amplified adrenaline & boistrously bouncy chaos. Implementing extreme aggression, hardened harmonies & deadly hymns forge a barrage of frenzied filth-induced intensities. Symbolizing ritualistic savagery; revolved around a monstrously meaty slab of solid versatility, with sinister vehemence & while smothering menacing yet wicked manifestations.
Consisting of N. on vocals/bass; the frontman demonstrates a demonic flow of deep, guttural growls...accelerating into a blood entrenched cord of foul lungs, howling into immensely high-pitched rage of throaty snarls & roaring malice - his bass is also injected into an infectiously audible aesthetic of babaric finesse, frolicking chuggy grinds and galloping fretworks fuelled into a chunky hybrid of groovy lacerations and crunchy firepower. "Helios II" slows things down a little bit; showcasing venomously sickening pursuits of stampeding assaults from bulldozing drummer J.S (also on backing vocals) as he hammers his steel with battering contrast, crafting an engulfed furnance of jarring melodies...rambunctiously trailblazed with neckbreaking momentum & primitive rawness.
Overall concluding "Helios" with "Helios III"; which portrays quintessential virtuosity, shrieking pandemonium & ruthlessly quaking organics that thunder with rapidly swift nimbleness from guitar duo D.S & R.T. shredding with tight overdoses of death; eerily haunting dynamics and a borderline foundation of punchy jumpiness that rockets with meticulous slabs of sonically seamless rhythms, mighty malevolence and a persistent perseverence of rumbling ruination. Riveting riffs embellish experimental substance of volatile creativity, ending in a dark...blackened atmosphere of an ambiently hellish thirst for revenge...or something of that nature.
Bottom line; a gruesome EP delivering a consistently grotesque monument of mandatory viscerality, "Helios" juxtaposed a neat culmination of Blackened Death Metal submergence. Salubriously providing profusely robust technicalities that transpires sulpherous vibes with moody outrè's of panache, vibrancy & potently quirky snappiness. A discovery in which most certainly deserves a listen at least once or maybe twice even, it does have a bit of replayability and has a brutal fulfillment enlightened within. Ballistic animals will love this, and I'll be interested in hearing SUMMON's latest offering in record form...a potentially rewarding experience full of talent & enjoyable headbanging sophistication. Good shit in other words!
