Embrace The Storm
Stream Of Passion

In the last two or so years, it seems that there has been an absolute explosion of female fronted so called Goth Metal bands and this is another one. So, what sets this one apart from all the others? It can be summed up in two words: Arjen Luccansen. Anytime Arjen is writing the music, the album will be guaranteed a hit in the Metal community if not further into the mainstream. The awesome vocal performance from Marcela certainly didn't hurt either. Now on with the show!!
Stream Of Passion was formed by Ayeron mastermind Arjen Luccasen and Marcela Bovio. Marcela first appeared on the Ayreon album Human Equation via a contest that she won to be on the album. Davy also won a contest that Arjen had started and the final member that was found via the Internet was Lori who was a member of the Ayreon Yahoo group. Alejandro and Johan were both recruited from the Tilburg Rock Academy. The members all communicated through the Internet and added the input to the music that Arjen wrote and the lyrics Marcela wrote.
The music is a virtual soundscape that just draws you in and doesn't let you go from the first notes of Spellbound. There are just so many textures to this music, it is truly great. I enjoyed how they used an actual piano rather than some kind of weird keyboard effect. Marcela's vocals are just too intense! There is so much feeling and emotion in her voice that it is just jaw dropping. The album's highlight is probably the second track off the album, Passion. I particularly like the violin part in the song as well as musically the journey that Arjen takes you on, builds and builds, then the climax comes in. It is just borderline euphoric. The guitar solo in the song also by the way definitely shreds, though it isn't long, it for sure gets the job done.
Though as I listen to this album while I write, the album gets to the Deceiver, the guitars, bass, lead and rhythm in this song are very infectious. When Marcela sings I am not, who you think I am she does this thing with her voice that I can't describe, but it is totally phenomenal
Hell, this whole album is awesome but either way I still think that Passion is my favorite. Arjen has done it again!! If you are a fan of Ayreon or Star One, I encourage you to pick this album up. On a side note, please pray with me that Stream Of Passion come to America. PRAY, DAMN YOU!!!
