Strangle Wire - The Dark Triad album cover

Wars rip the world apart. Differences in politics, religion, governments and others can turn a country into Hell easily. The conflict in Northern Ireland turned the life of many into a tormented existence. But as long as Metal is here, kicking the politicians' teeth, it will resist. To hear a band as the quartet STRANGLE WIRE from Belfast, tormenting our ears with "The Dark Triad", is really a good proof that Metal is not right wing or left wing, but the strength giver for surviving soured times.

This album shows an extreme form of Death Metal with half of their efforts based on an Old School approach, and half with modern and technical power. On its six songs, besides it's far from something new, it's honest and done in a way that every extreme Metal fan will bow down due their musical brutality. It's oppressive and brutal, but with very good taste.

"The Dark Triad" was produced by Chris Fielding (the same one who previously worked with HOODED MENACE, PRIMORDIAL, WITCHSORROW, and others), who build a brutal and defined sound based on Death Metal low tunes. But you'll understand all their musical arrangements without great efforts, for it sounds clear enough for us all.

The band commits only one sin: the vocals could have a more ample range of tunes. They aren't bad, but with more diversity, they could have reached another level. But songs as the nasty and technical "The Games They Play" (with very good guitars), the oppressive rhythmic work shown on "The Narcissist" (great work from bass guitar and drums), the trauma caused by the sharp guitar riffs of "The Failure Exhibit" and the massive weight of "Den of Inequity" are fine examples of a promising band.

Adjusting the vocal tunes, and with more songs (six songs aren't enough to satisfy an extreme Metal fan), they will grow and smash the world!
