The two-man Sludge/Doom Metal band out of Arlington, Texas are back with a 2 song EP. They released an album back in 2019 so this may or may not be songs from those sessions. This band has been at it since 2009 and have had a consistent flow of releases since then. The singer reminds me a bit of Zakk Wylde and its pretty had to fathom that only two guys do everything in the band. They really nailed it on this EP and the songs sound like a 5 man band but they are only two guys. I would compare them to a band like BLACK COBRA, only two members but channeling the energy of all full band. You guys have my attention just for that simple matter of fact.
The guitar solos on ''Mushroom Cloud'' are very reminiscent of the solos of Dimebag Darrell throughout his years with PANTERA. That is really the first thing that comes to mind when I heard them and that's far from a bad thing. You are bombarded with the guitar solos, that voice and the powerful drumming throughout the first song. I can also hear a bit of old school SOUNDGARDEN, maybe in the ''Badmotorfinger'' days, I don't know but it really reminded me of that. The song seemed to be structured a bit like that album persay.
I am going on a tangent right now but please check out their YouTube page, they put whole shows on their page and they are fantastic. It gives you a thrillride like if you were there at the venue and it's awesome for a small band to upload these full shows for the listener out there. They give one hell of a show and it's probably a band I'd love to see when all the trials and tribulations we are facing are done with. It's never boring and they seem to have fun on the stage and that's something I really enjoy seeing.
As for the second song, this was more reminiscent of old school BLACK SABBATH or if you want to compare them to a more recent band, try ORCHID. That band is so freakin' good but haven't done much lately unfortunately but I digress. So ''Walking Among the Blind'' is a like a loveletter to the genre and the old school goodness of the early 70's. I do prefer the first song but this one was still pretty kickass. So much energy, so much joy listening to these two songs and really making me want more of the band. I will obviously be checking out their early material because this really caught my attention and I am so glad I was able to review this awesome EP. A lot of potential and a lot of character for a 2 Man Band!
