Stalefish1 is a new group from UK which is trying to do something serious in the Metal music scene. Their new album, Smashed Bottles & Broken Fences, is the evidence of their hard effort.
Ten songs balancing between the sounds of Nu Metal, some Hardcore passings and a lot of calm and melodic parts close to the style of groups like Incubus and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The vocals remind me a lot of times of Serj, the singer of System Of A Down. The album starts with a great song, Friday. Some great heavy guitars with some really good riffs can be found in there.
Smashed Bottles & Broken Fences has 3-4 very good songs which show us the talents of Stalefish1 but all the other songs are almost too much alike and seem to be repeated. But you can find though some elements in this album that can probably make you see that they have their own musical personality like for example try Analyze Me.
I think Stalefish1 is not a group whose music will change some of the standards in music, though they show signs of great musicianship. They can do more things, bigger things; songs like Friday, Analyze Me and Torment prove my sayings.
