I cannot start this review without mentioning the cover of the SPOILED AMIGO album. What a cute and sweet thing, representing an illustrating all the sonority that is on this work. Other thing that surprised me was that the sentence in their press release "Tight riffs, some sweet toughness and bunch of catchy choruses. We don´t think music has to be more complicated than that." It is faithfully conquered by the band playing into genres Rock and New Wave aggregated by some 80's and early 90's Punk musical elements. Silly lyrics, a very simple instrumental and a voice beyond create a relaxing and extremely entertaining listening experience.
Anna Lindberg (Vocals-Keybords), Henrik Lindberg (Guitars), Roger Klinth (Drums), Martin Nyman (Guitar), and Niclas Cederborg (Bass) are the formers the Swedish quintet responsible for this work, very well-produced and mixed the collaboration between Rolf Klinth (Sweden) and Harris Johns (Germany). The whole EP features 10 very short tracks ranging from one minute and a half to three and a half minutes totaling 27 'of total listening. For a better explanation of what was mentioned before, "Moving Faster" has only three riffs and its lyrics inspired by how cool it is to travel fast by train and not by bus or plane, approaching not very deep themes like tickets, luggage and the like. Do not get me wrong, it is not bad at all and in the end of this song believe me or not I caught myself really moving at 100 miles per hour. "Money" and "Girls and Boys" bring very sticky and repetitive chorus ones and even this is an interesting fact as I tend to get annoyed with severe repetitions and it's not happening here, it's actually normal after a second time hearing I've started to sing along with a band.
Passions from "Come on Boys" and "Control" reminded me a lot of PRETENDERS and their continued exploration of bass, and maybe it's one of the band's inspirations for this work. SPOILED AMIGO has done a simple straightforward and successful job, there is nothing really groundbreaking, but for anyone looking for some music time just for fun and getting out of the heavier Metal universe, this work is highly recommended.Overall: 8
