Spewtilator - Goathrower album cover

This is a band from Atlanta Georgia where 3 guys play Thrash / Death / Grindcore. It was formed in 2007. "Ryan McGee" (bass-vocals) founded the band along with Rafay Nabbel (guitars), and "Amos Rifkin" (joining the band on drums in 2012) present us the EP "Goathrower" from Boris records, who has produced extreme metal bands almost always from USA. We could say that this is not their opus prima, this is their third EP. In 2009 they released their demo "Thrash N Splash", In 2010 they released their first EP "Get Conjured". In 2012 they released the Split "Total Devastation East Coast" and in the same year the EP "Inhale awaits". In 2013 the Split "Ancient rites of getting conjured", and finally this last one.

No doubt, if I can define the style of these guys I would call them Dirty Metal, or at least that's what I want to convey with its motto "Smoked out, beer drenched, head bangers belching donkey-tinged death breath since '07." And if as well as its sound is heard throughout the EP, I have taken notice that he has defined his musical style, and "Goathrower" is no different in their songs and lyrics tinged with punk appreciation for the attitude between Thrash / Death / Grindcore, but I would add some short term energy fills, yes. But it is very flat as if he had heard a song divided into 2 long parts where the last half is the complement of the first half.

So this EP starts with the song that gives the name and is probably the longest (about 3 minutes) "Goathrower". It can be seen how hard it is definitely starting a war cry against obedience and healthy habits. It does not project guitar or bass while the two harmonize rhythmically. Instead it sticks in fast drums. Next "Cherokee Curse" is a song full of contrasts as these attempted guttural tones combine with some lyrics that reminded me of a kind of King Diamond without dropping the energy coming from the first. I am struck by the extreme guitar walking between octaves and radical lyrics "Cursed by an asshole, an Indian enthusiast" Racist allegory? No, I don't care, but it is a notorious line to the open drug liking, but the allegory is not the most appropriate. Keep track with the third "Caved of Hatred" that seems follow the second one except for their start with the drums and bass arpeggio and then where there is a breakdown of the EP not as typical where there is a song that lowers the sound intensity, but shortens, so that takes less than a minute. "Afterworld inebriation" is undoubtedly the most well-known song from the influence of Death/Grind not neglecting the very Thrash and just short quickness. This EP ends with a Zize cover (band of Hardcore / Punk from Seattle formed in 1993) "Let's get drugs" where its influence is undeniably Punk and is a tribute to his commitment in favor of drugs from the point of view of the consumer.

In conclusion, for me this is not a new sound, but it's interesting that in a place where it is known as the birthplace of hip hop artists that undoubtedly makes Spewtilator reaffirm my theory that USA is trying to create a movement that seeks always looking for new Metal sounds within political lyrics against the government in all kind of themes and this new generation is running. Sounds old school combined without trying to be clean with quick drums at all times, makes it clear that this band has given their style and lyrics, but still has not shown why loudly unlike many existing in this Metal jungle diversity.
