SouLost - The Way I Feel Pt.2 album cover
It's honestly really hard to discuss something that's only three tracks long, yet that doesn't necessarily go to say that's it's bad, in fact, if anything, this short three track record is quite interesting. The London based band SOULOST, lead by female vocalist Ceira Mahoney, bring a mix of synth, heavy guitars, and sweet vocals that left me feeling confused, but pleased. By confused I mean, I not sure if this is Nu-Metal or not, I can't quite decide what it is, but it's good.

It's not often we hear of new metal bands lead by a female vocalist, especially in Nu-Metal (which is what I assume this is) where we expect a grown man from the 90's rapping about his current love affairs. But not this time! Take away the "Oh woe is me" and the male voice and replace it some bad-ass independent female type shit and you have Ceira Mahoney! Not only does this chick have an amazing voice, her rapping in the first song "Bring You Down" is not bad at all! This song is pretty good as well to say the least. It opens with some almost angelic synth from Stef G, which then delivers a kick to the stomach as synth and metal combine to create a sound that basically says "Fuck You!" This song is heavy, full of bass, clean vocals, rapping, it's a beautiful combination that will have you head banging for sure. The next song is a bit less aggressive compared to the first track, and so much more compelling. There is definitely some raw emotion in these tracks, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, which is a perfect fit for the sound. The piano/synth in the background seems to drive the melody and sets the mood of each of these two songs, without it, the songs would not be as beautiful as they already are. The final song, "Save Me", is one of the best acoustic songs I have heard in my life. Truly something that you could weep to, her voice is excellent and the guitars sound amazing. This song is the perfect end to this short EP.

It's unfortunate that this record is so short, I would love to hear more material from these guys, and I'm sure that they will produce more quality content in the future!
