SLOTH HERDER might sound like a Sludge or perhaps a Doom Metal band, but yeah...they're kind of not. They are a Maryland, US-based Grindcore/Black Metal outfit that's been active since 2009; having 3 EPs, a split, and their newest full-length behind their backs.
It took 8 years for the band to release the album, but I'm not complaining, since most bands actually need time to release some quality material; yet their album finally got a release date (March 24^th) via Grimoire Records.

SLOTH HERDER have to be one of those extremely rare and brutal-sounding Grindcore bands; being absolutely original, but still sounding extremely raw and chaotic when mixed with some Black Metal influences. They band released their first EP "Sluggard" back in 2012 and then, the same year, a new EP, called "Abandon Pop Sensibility" following which came a split called "Sloth Herder/ Horde of the Eclipse" in 2014, and finally a 2015 EP called "Powerslob Redux".

Being two years in the works (or perhaps more?), "No Pity, No Sunrise" is an album of 14 malicious and brutal tracks. The first one, "Antipathic Grades", is extremely dizzy, noisy, with fantastic guitars and vocals; the sweet dissonant atmosphere, the fast drumming - everything is wickedly beautiful.

The fact that you think this is just an ordinary Grindcore album makes everything so fun, because it absolutely isn't. It's much, much more. It's a serious punch of weird, bizarre, energetic riffing and brutal, horrifying vocals done in an incredibly dissonant and disoriented way. This is an album that will bring complete darkness, and just like the title hints, no sunrise. The second track, "Doli Incapax" is completely different; it's a bit of a slower track in the beginning, but speeds things up slowly and surely. The vocals are dark, nasty, and evil, not too scream based (as most are in the genre) but somewhat experimental, leaning towards the growl side a bit more, and the fact that they are a bit toned down makes everything feel so dark and the instruments dominant. The guitars and the drums are loud enough, but not too loud, just a bit louder than the vocals, which seriously can't get any rawer at this point.

So far only 3 tracks are available for streaming on the band's official Bandcamp site, but damn, as soon as this album comes out, all of you who enjoy this short, yet extreme genre, need to get this album. It's a must! It seriously got on my very long list of incredible Grindcore albums. If you're a fan of BLURRICANE, OBLIVIONIZED, ANAAL NATHRAKH, FUKPIG, throw yourself into a pit of pestilent and dizzy, dissonantly dark and extreme USA Grindcore!
