It's Here, But I Have No Names For It

The band made the following statement about their new album: “The mysterious phase of nothingness, crucial to the creative process, is over: our new album is finally done. Thank you so much to all our listeners for your patience. It has been a slow but intense labor of love and we are proud of the songs on this record, and grateful for the many people who helped bring it to life. Hope to see you on the road in 2024, more show announcements to come, and we truly hope the new music we’re about to release resonates with you in the same way it does with us.”
The album has eight songs, and “All Hail Skull” is first. It make an electronic entrance with fat synth notes, leading to a sturdy riff and drums with a distinctive bounce to them. I like how they band lets the melody shine but still retains a hard edge to their music. “Super Realm Park” is also heavy with synths and weighted guitar riffs, and there is also some dancing meaty bass notes. It comes to a glorious crescendo and ends on charming piano notes. “Ritual Control” keeps the good times rolling. The melody in the bass line is augmented with a supporting melody in the guitars. This song will pump you up and energize you.
“Black Paradise” begins with acoustic guitars that ride the fence between light and darkness. In fact, I would call them pensive. When drums and distorted guitars join in, the sound is amplified but still ambiguous. “Verdigris” has an expansive backbone, and I picture someone marveling at the canopy of stars that come out on a clear night. It’s very pretty and easy to get lost in. This kind of sound is why I listen to Post Rock. “Terror Future” has a heavier groove, with animated bass notes and strong melodies over top, and the riffs reach out to unexpected places at times. The vocals rounding past the half-way mark are surprising, but add to the positive melodies.
The title track begins with smooth and restful tones, and I picture someone drifting off for a nap on a day with little to do. It builds to a gorgeous crescendo before finishing on notes that leave the listener satisfied. It was a perfect nap. “This Close Forever” closes the album, and what a beautiful sound it is. It hardens eventually, but the melody like remains focused. For me, the album had a tranquil and uplifting atmosphere, leading to feelings of comfort and rejuvenation, much like a warm breeze on a cool spring day, perfect for moments of relaxation and reflection.
