Topless Suicide

SLEAZY ROXXX is a four-piece hard rock band that hails from the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. You could be forgiven for thinking these guys were born and raised on L.A.s Sunset strip, as they unapologetically flaunt hyper sexuality and the decadent indulgences akin to the 80's Glam scene from that now infamous location. The band came to be in late 2009 and have released two albums, via City of Lights Records, their previous album "Dangerous Obsession" in 2014 (a re-release from 2013 prior to signing) and now with their current offering in the form of "Topless Suicide".
You are greeted with the track "Dirty Sanchez", a sort of mid paced song with really good rhythm guitar work. Vocally it is very strong and there is excellent use of backing harmonies, however the chorus just doesn't quite punch through and really make it soar. The next handful of tracks, "Catch the World", "Let's Roll", and "Crystal", kind of fall under the same umbrella. These few songs (while not bad) lack that all-important hook and catchy vocal line that excites the listener, making them want more; but then things really pick up!
The fifth track, "Nymphomaniac", has a much more ballsy sound and demands your attention, a great heavy groove and vocal lines that really do the song justice. Yes, this is what I was hoping for! Another really stand out track for me was "Riots", which was by far the most up tempo track on the album, complimented with a seriously impressive guitar solo. The drumming on this song also really helped the attitude these guys are aiming for come alive, the latter half of "Topless Suicide" most definitely has the material that is the best representation of SLEAZY ROXXX, the faster pace and unification of heavier guitar and drum work is a real strong point for this band.
Overall this album is enjoyable; it bares all the hallmarks of the mischief and guilty pleasures that made heavy glam rock a worldwide phenomenon. SLEAZY ROXXX have quite an abundance talent and ability; I think they need to approach their song writing with a tad more aggressiveness and get the right producer to bring out the power in their sound and emphasize the right points in their songs, which on occasions this album didn't quite do. But I am looking forward to hearing more from these guys. I think their best is yet to come.<
