This is the fourth album from SKELETONWITCH, and it's probably their best to date. It's a rather short album - only clocking in at just over half an hour - but it doesn't need to be any longer. It's almost like they've distilled the very best bits of a longer album into a smaller, brilliant package.

There's only two songs in "Forever Abomination" that are longer than three minutes. One of these is the first one, "This Horrifying Force (The Desire To Kill)" which starts off with a little acoustic bit, which is actually pretty cool. It doesn't last long however, as they blast into their trademark melt your face off heavy riffs and hooks. There aren't any weak songs on this list, which I think attests to the fact that they have gone for quality rather than quantity. My personal favorite has to be "Cleaver Of Souls". To put it simply, this is an epic song. It goes through different riffs, and hooks, and has got an awesome solo in it, definitely the highlight of the album.

This is the band's first album without drummer Derrick Nau, but his replacement, Dustin Boltjes, does a particularly fine job here. He looks to be a very good fit with the rest of the band. In fact, all of the members are on top form on this release, the guitar playing is to a very high standard. I think that the vocals are mixed a little low, and whilst this would usually be a bad thing, it's not really here, because it lets you focus on the awesome fretwork. But that's not to say that Garnette's vocals aren't excellent, because they most definitely are.

So overall, this album impressed me a heck of a lot. Despite its short length it still left a big impression on me. And let's be honest, we'd all rather that we want more out of an album than wishing it would end.
