I was quite surprised when I heard that SKAZA were based out of Poland, since Poland might not be known for this genre that much as for the other, more brutal ones, but this is a pleasant surprise. SKAZA are playing an interesting mixture of Heavy Metal and Power Metal, leaning more on the Heavy Metal side. Active since 2010, they finally managed to release their debut full length record in 2016, and being that it's their only record, you should definitely give them a chance if you're into this genre. What to expect? Expect a lot of riffs, and not a lot of vocals. This band is quite leaning more on the instrumental side, but when the vocals kick in, you're going to be shocked and blown away how powerful and magical they actually are. Their debut, "Art Declined" has 13 songs, and the entire album is up on Youtube, including a few lyric videos.
Currently I'm not going in order, but I am a big fan of what's going on. So many solos can be heard throughout the songs, the vocals are absolutely epic and atmospheric, sometimes fast, but mostly with a constant and normal speed, not showing off with big speed. The vocals are mostly clean, but, what's the most interesting about this band is the fact that they are actually using some growls, too, which is a huge thing to do in this genre. Basically, the band is open to experimentation, and you'll mostly hear that on the track 10th track called "Archetype", a bit on the third track, too, which is called "Perpetual". The thing is, all are different, all are various when it comes to the vocals, some are a bit higher than others, some a bit lower, but one thing's for sure, all are extremely epic! If you wish to hear some incredibly epic Heavy Metal that's true to its roots, yet experimental, give the Polish SKAZA a listen, and bathe in riffs and magical guitar solos.
