Sofia's Forgotten Violin

It has been quite a while since I have sat, listened to an album and fully opened my mind to it. I have to say, though I was originally intimidated by SIRGAUS's "Sofia's Forgotten Violin" as a comeback review, I am kinda happy I decided to stick with it anyway. It's very powerful, even without knowing what this album is truly about. Knowing that this whole album is one huge, emotional story, that is just so amazing to me.
My only issue with this melancholy, yet beautiful album, is I wasn't sure exactly the story without the resume of the story which is posted on their website. Though, after finding it on their website, I found I even more so wanted to listen to this album, close my eyes and imagine how this story would appear before me. I kind of feel like though, without having the story before me on the computer screen, that I would never have gotten the full effect of the album.
Now musically, this is one amazing album, but to be completely honest, Sofia Da Col's voice just isn't something I expected for this album. And I am not one hundred percent sure it really works to carry the story correctly. Her voice is more something I would expect popping in one of my old cassette tapes from the 1980's bands I used to love. I am not in any way saying her voice is bad or anything. I am just saying for the album SIRGAUS seemed to be going for, it just doesn't work. All and all though, this was a pretty decent album!
