Another day, yet another dose of brutality hailing from Scandinavia. This time it comes in the form of Swedish death metallers SINNERS BURN and their latest effort 'Disturbing Creatures', which, all in all, is an absolute onslaught on the senses. Slamming your head off thunderous percussion and rapid guitar riffs, the gents that comprise this band are certainly releasing years of pent up rage, through the medium of music.

The drumming section of the quintet is surprisingly occupied by both, Jocke Ringdahl and Jacob Johansson. Although, I find this a little confusing (is there two drum kits on stage? Do they take turns? A stand in?) it is also completely understandable, as you would need calf muscles reinforced with iron, to keep up with the ferocious pace adopted by the group. The vocals of Marcus Ankarberg, if I'm being completely honest, are not enjoyable for me at all. Very deep and powerful, which is great, but I don't know how he has managed to make it sound like he is belching every word. Although this may suit the preferred genre brilliantly, I found it displeasing; it really robs the songs as a whole. This is something that I was unable to escape throughout the entire record, which put a dampener on proceedings.

One good point about this band is that they have managed to keep their record varied. Although they never stray too far from the standard blast beat style, they have managed to take the death metal structure and alter it in little ways that keep everything interesting. Thrashy influences bleed through their deep down-tuned guitars and their agile metal playing holds attention throughout.

'Hellraiser' is a stand out track, the spoken words "Welcome to Hell" ring out before they're drown out by a barrage of double bass and a meaty palm-muted riff combined; that sound demonic in relation. It is apparent that they use speed picking licks a lot that sound very similar, but I'd count this as a genre convention, so can they be blamed? 'Burned from Inside' is another song that grabs your attention, and rightly so, as this one is an out-right headbanger, one that's bound to get the fists flying at the local venue.

This band is fast-pace and aggressive. They don't pull punches and that is more than welcome in death metal. However, it can sometimes be their downfall, as they need some polishing around the edges and maybe a new outlook on their vocal delivery...it's just a suggestion!
