This is the first full-length album from the Italian band. They had gotten out a demo in 2014 called ''Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea''.

I threw myself headfirst in this review and I was not disappointed. I only went on their official page to get some info about the band and then I proceeded to listen to this album during a rare break at work. Actually, most of the time I am not supposed to listen to anything on streaming on the internet but I made an exception this time being I was the only person at work during the weekend.

I didn't read the countless reviews that are on the internet. I decided to let it all flow. I put on the headphones and listened to this album with no prior idea of what I would listen to. I did not know this band at all and Metal Temple has given me the chance to listen to so many new bands and sometimes I really feel spoiled.

I am a sucker for anything that is Pirate related or anything to do with ancient history. I remember vividly having Pirate ships on the top of the refrigerator when i was a little lad and I was always a fan of the pirate way of life and the lore of it all. I personally suggest the book Under the Black Flag which is pretty freakin' awesome.

Anyways, let's come back to the album itself! Most of the songs are about Pirates and scavengers of old. The only song that seems to be a bit out of the lyrical theme is The Undead, presumably that Pirates may or may not have had battles with undead people throughout their many voyages! I know it may be ludicrous but I guess pirates saw all of stuff we never knew about!

As for the musicial stylings, well I would not necessarily compare them to bands like ALESTORM, SWASHBUCKLE or even THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD. I know these bands are the primary bands in the Pirate Metal genre but I felt SILVERBONES went out of their way to distance themselves a bit from these bands. They do talk alot about pirates but persay I would say they are more of a traditional Heavy Metal band, I would compare them to legendary bands like RAGE, GRAVE DIGGER, RUNNING WILD or maybe something along the lines of very early HELLOWEEN.

The riffs are a bit simple, but I mean it can't always be really complicated riffs like DRAGONFORCE or DREAM THEATER. I felt it made the band a bit more accessible; at least they aren't playing like 100 notes a second thankfully. They stick to their guns and it's pretty awesome. It's traditional Heavy Metal like I really love. It's nothing groundbreaking but it rocks your socks off. It has great hooks and a few really epic songs, especially ''Queen Anne's Revenge''  and ''Black Bart''.

I could really see myself listening to this album over and over again. It's that good. If you like traditional Heavy Metal, this is one hell of a great release. I look forward to other releases in the future from these guys! Aye Matee!
