Sign of Cain - To be Drawn and to Drown album cover

SIGN OF CAIN was founded in nineteen ninety nine by vocalist and guitarist Tomer Hasenfratz, functioning over a three year period until it was put to rest in the year of two thousand and two due to adversities becoming too strong and to frequent; but after hooking up with bassist Ben Kelly Solomon, the band was brought back from Death Metal purgatory in two thousand eleven to prove the world they have what it takes to release a full length album, and the testimony is right before you at this gathering of the Metal Temple.

A quite outstanding blend of Death and Doom Metal, a marriage made in hell between depression and aggression, a slaughter carried out for the mere sake of chaos and disorder, a peak into an Avant Garde approach made by these proficient musicians; The best example for this, but not the only one, is the song preceding the one that gave its name to the whole album called, "Again I Shed" with the presence of a faint, dramatic violin in the first part of the song that arises like a phoenix from the ashes to become a substantial and to me, essential part of the song, which provides this aggressive track and everyone that listens to it a dramatic contrast when the most revered instrument in the world resurfaces to join the guitar riff and take over the song splitting it in half after a slashing and emotional solo to bring it to closure.

This effect of course, would hardly be acquired if it wasn't for an impeccable method of recording and production. An exceptional work of Death Metal without any monotony, mechanical and redundant songs or senseless lyrics made to fit a riff; these Death Metal veterans from Israel put together a work of musical creativity worthy of both recognition and a tour presence in different countries in order to prove that the SIGN OF CAIN, are back kicking and screaming into this dawning year which has already given us high quality full length release to feast our ears and our minds within the walls of the multiverse of the Metal Temple.
