Human Nature
Shredhead
Straightforward as hell, fierce and to the point. Those are several meaningsto recognize Thrash Metal, no matter if modern or old school. In the case of the young Israeli Thrashers, SHREDHEAD, the ground would be turning red due to the probably high amounts of blood from their moshpit. With their debut independent release, "Human Nature", Thrash Metal never seemed less violent, unmercyful and even a little bit out of the ordinary form.
Well to be exact, SHREDHEAD aren't the truest of Thrash Metal bands. They definitely sound like one, espcially with that cracking sound orientation, crude lead guitar work and up tempo beats that never cease. On the other hand, the vocal type, which is mixed, some of the beats and a hefty dose of the guitar riffs might indicate of Hardcore / Punk influences. I would say that in overall SHREDHEAD is something in the crossover region of early MEGADETH and EXODUS sharing a place with MUNICIPAL WASTE and D.R.I. Some won't admit it possibly but in many hard to the core Thrashers there is a living Punkhead screaming his guts out.
Musically, SHREDHEAD's material is rather more articulate then usual even in Crossover / Thrash. That is where the MEGADETH influence kicks in. The guitar playing by the hands of Yotam Nagor elevated the songs. Though there is a solid selection of worn out riffs, there are several of variances that overcame the banality such as the shifts of time signatures and insertion of morbid, in the manner of WARBRINGER, riff attacks. As for the lead guitar work, it is not that far from a shred assault in the line of proto Thrash, more like the early TESTAMENT and MEGADETH. Along with the unending energetic beats of Roee Kahana, the road is a mere slaughterhouse.
Slaughterhouse as it may be, "Human Nature" is not that perfect. It has a sort of edge over a number of Thrash releases that are more busy at recycling older material than creating a landmark. However, only three tracks really thrilled me such as "Ruffies", "Becoming The Animal" and "Deathrow". SHREDHEAD did have some great ideas on the others of the tracklist such as the banal themed "Zombie Attack", political street fighting of "Rise" and "Dead Eyes", yet if there are any special features that are a presentation of force it will be entrusted to the latter tracks.
For Thrash Metal fans that look for rather variant Thrash output, this is the ground to find it. SHREDHEAD carries a good prospect with it. It will be interesting to see how it will be exploited for further use.
