Shin To Shin - Shin To Shin album cover

A389 Records home to some small bands that are making an uprising, for example NOISEM. Without having any idea who they were I saw them on two separate tours in less than a year, their record label must help them a lot. Hopefully the same happens here with SHIN TO SHIN, a mix of Hardcore and Death Metal the band has released their self titled album and at first listen, it sounds like an early OBITUARY album.

"Shin To Shin" is home to a ton of heavy riffs, more than you can wrap your hear around. Throughout the entire album everything is changing, every riff gets its due but is never overplayed or overstays its welcome. "Costumes and Masks" is one of the strongest songs on the album, always bringing fast and heavy riffs with crushing drums behind it, the vocals are very OBITUARY style as stated before and the song is in and out with a powerful solo before you know it. The other big song this album is home to is "Step Up And Shout" I've listened to this specific song over and over again, the transitions in it are flawless, the riffs are deadly, the vocals are catchy somehow and the song slays into something beautiful. "Maia" the closing song, is a beautiful piece of clean guitars, no vocals and it should feel out of place for the kind of album this is, but its not. The track is very welcoming and slows you right down to close out the album while making you think "man life, or death, or something, who knows what, is beautiful."

Basically, this sums up what to expect jumping into the self titled SHIN TO SHIN album. If you like OBITUARY, Hardcore, or Death Metal I highly suggest you check it out because this album is a strange and wonderfully welcome delight to my bleeding ears from the last thing I listened to.
