Lost In Tartarus
Shevils
Wow, Norway's still very, very fertile in terms of Metal. And you Ol' Big Daddy here is not talking from extreme Metal, but from SHEVILS, a dirty Hardcore band extremely catching and heavy, and their album "Lost In Tartarus" is really amazing.
It's dirty, furious, intense, nasty and abrasive, sounding oiled during all the album, and it's very good! Intense and screamed vocals, strong guitars (sounding like a massive attack of wasps), bass and drums with heavy weight and good technique. It's not something that you would refer to as original, but it's honest and wonderful. To be true to you all, it's not simple Hardcore, but got a lot of musical influences, for the sound of the band it seems, sometimes, to be rather similar to several raw Stoner bands.
Produced, mixed & recorded by Marcus Forsgren at EngfeltForsgren Studio, and with mastering done by Björn Engelmann at Cuttingroom Studios, it sound nasty and oiled, sometimes smoking, and the sensation is the same to be in a very dirty pub when a brawl starts. But don't be disturbed: you can hear all instruments clearly and understand their songs.
All songs are fine, but their best moments: the abrasive "Is This Where We are At?", the HC "Timelines", the thundering "These Walls are Coming Down", and the insult in form of music "State of Regret".
Amazing!
