Pickled Preservation

Back in the past, to the late years of the 80's, some bands started to write lyrics to make even a coroner used to make autopsies on long time decomposed corpses to puke their guts out. Acts as CARCASS, IMPETIGO, CANNIBAL CORPSE and others took the lyrical aspect more extreme to transcend every limit. But they left a legacy that many bands keep on, acts as the Danish quartet SEQUESTRUM, as shown on "Pickled Preservation". They're into a vein that reminds a lot classic Death Metal/Grindcore acts as CARCASS and AUTOPSY, using a brutal and classic appeal that will be hard to resist to fans of Old School brutal genres. It's primitive, nasty and aggressive, but always in a way that brings the elements of the past (including some references to Hardcore, what brings that extreme Old School Death Metal hooks, as can be heard clearly on "Preserved to Last"). In few words: it's brutal and nasty, but due the lack of a refined technical appeal (that isn't necessary for the band's work), these songs are simple to be heard and understood.
"Pickled Preservation" was recorded with J. B. Hviid handling the studio duties. The idea was to use an Old School referential to make their songs have the right appeal. And it's raw, nasty and aggressive, but always using a basic recording, allowing them to be understood, but always in the crudest way possible. "Giblet Excreter" works as an intro for "Preserved to Last", a brutal song based on Old School Splatter Death Metal form, always with those Hardcore/Grindcore elements being presented (especially in the distorted guitars and bass guitar works).
A fine rhythmic work is presented by the drums during "Necromucouphagia", a song based mainly on fast tempos with nasty guitar riffs and contrasts between the grunted tunes of the vocals. "Guts" is a 3 seconds song with a scream (like those ones found on old CARCASS and NAPALM DEATH albums). The massacre keeps on "Consigned to Humus" (another brutal and fast song, and on it one can check a simple technical approach, with nasty guitars) and on "Human Broth" (a massive and weighty song, with elements that reminds Brutal Death Metal early days, especially on the rhythms). And "Dis-Organ-Ized" is an old song of IMPETIGO, where Grindcore and Hardcore are clear, with nasty vocals and disgusting guitars (and for a band like this quartet, 'disgust' is a very good work, indeed).
Well, for those who want to throw their own intestines out, "Pickled Preservation" is a very good release, and they must pay attention to SEQUESTRUM's work.
