Here we have a collection of quaint melodies, best enjoyed in family and social settings... said no SEPTYCAL GORGE fan, ever. This is monstrous, mutilating, Brutal Death Metal, fucking your earholes mercilessly, brought to you courtesy of their latest album, "Scourge of the Formless Breed."

Influenced by such acts as SUFFOCATION, DECREPIT BIRTH, and DEEDS OF FLESH, they have stayed close to their origins and furthered the genre with their September 2014 release.

While I was listening to the album, I went on an impulse and decided to look up the lyrics, which were vocalized through some of the most brutal growls that exist. What I found were lyrics which were very reminiscent to that of NILE. That's an impressive statement, considering the success of the aforementioned. There's a thematic focus on the mystical and divine possibilities of an entire breed of beings and the formless god which created them, but that is likely just a metaphor for the human race.

The music of the album has an obviously technical aspect, like a cross between NECROPHAGIST and VISCERAL DISGORGE. The tempo variations, unrelenting snare and percussions, and constant guitar progressions provide an outstanding listening experience for anyone who can withstand the face-melting sound without having their eardrums burst into bloody membranes.

Discovering new Metal that is uncompromising and unique is part of what makes this genre so enticing to its fans. There are no compromises here, as SEPTYCAL GORGE have put together an amazingly heavy and brutal masterpiece of mayhem and carnage. Without a doubt, these guys are some of Italy's finest Death Metallers.
