Sense of Noise - Sense of Noise album cover

Since the coming of Melodic Death Metal in the 90's (by the hands of names as CARCASS, AT THE GATES, IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY, AMORPHIS and some others), many fans had extreme problems dealing with the melodic outfit of the genre, what meant to part ways with the traditional brutal and crude outfit of the genre. Maybe the problem is to accept it (as it's everything that's new in Metal) is the petrified conceptions in the mind of many. And for them, the excellent work of the Mexican quintet SENSE OF NOISE is hard to be understood, even with "Sense of Noise" being a great release.

The quintet can be said as a follower of Melodic Death Metal as it was in the second half of the 90's, but taking advantage of some modern elements (the clean vocals' parts can fit on a Metalcore band perfectly), with a massive and aggressive energy flowing from their songs. And this hybrid form isn't as usual, so they can be sailing on unknown waters with courage (pay attention to Hard Rock backing vocals being used on "Our Dying Light"). And their work is pretty good. The album as produced, recorded and mixed by Federico d'Empaire (who played some guitars and made some clean vocals as well), while the mastering was done by Tony Lindgren. As one can expect, it's clean and defined in a way that everything can be understood without problems, but using nasty instrumental tunes with some modern moments. It's an excellent work, indeed. And as guests, the band presents Björn "Speed" Strid (of SOILWORK, ACT OF DENIAL, THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA and others) on the vocals on "Zero Killed", and Antony Hämäläinen (of CRYSTAL TEARS and former NIGHTRAGE) on the vocals on "Rage of Existence".

As the best songs for a first ride on "Sense of Noise", "The Broken Hope" (with those massive tempos, clean vocals and very good guitar raids), "War Within" (their charming mix between melodies and aggressiveness is excellent, tempered with good keyboards parts), "Morning Glory" (the playing of bass guitar and drums on this one creates a solid and impenetrable rhythmic wall), "March of the Fallen" (this one shows a catchy groove, with very good vocals parts, with good contrasts between grunts and clean voices), "Our Dying Light" (this one bears, as said above, some backing vocals that are usual for Hard/Glam Metal, and the clean vocals parts are amazing) , and "Rage of Existence" (what great work from guitars and keyboards) are the right ones.

SENSE OF NOISE is really a talented band, so take this trip into "Sense of Noise", and enjoy the ride.
