SELENE is a female Fronted Symphonic Power Metal band from L/Derry in Northern Ireland formed in March 2013. They released their EP "Among the Frozen" in 2013, 3 singles and a new fresh EP „Paradise Over" will be released on 24^th October 2014.

Opening track „Facing the Mirror" has a gentle intro with piano and then heavy guitars show the true face of band. They have a great sound, heavier riffs with the balsamic vocals of the singer, melodic chorus with choir in the background, symphonic elements, and gentle singing is just brilliant! I love the most, "Not Enough", where is connecting power drums, stronger guitars, mysterious keys and fine vocals - from deep, melodic to high style like in NIGHTWISH style. This is a very catchy and memorable track! Also guitar solo is impressive here. The band creates nice music like in "Still Dreaming" beginning with piano and after heavier riffs with climatic sounds, similar to folkish echoes and fabulous refrain.

Titled track "Paradise Over" has an amazing choir with symphonic elements together with excellent stronger riffs and clear powerful drums. Sounds awesome! The melodic chorus is fantastic with pulp of drums, stronger guitars and gentle balsamic voice with symphonic sounds in the background. Vocalist Shonagh Lyons has a wonderful Operatic voice with a calm yet powerful atmosphere. It is hear able especially in their wonderful ballad; "Hourglass Fading" where a balsamic calmer style of singing is great together with piano and calmer guitar. "Fade Away" is characterised by amazing keys with symphonic sounds and extra melodic heavier riffs. Deep and tempting vocals add flavour to this track with catchy refrain in high style and amazing keys give awesome atmosphere here. Worth to listen is also the guitar solo.

SELENE create wonderful music with melody. Symphonic Metal is amazing in their performance together with Power and Folk echoes. If you love Melodic Symphonic Metal this is definitely in position for you. I can't wait to see what these guys from this Irish band will offer us in new songs in the future. I sincerely recommend this EP where you can find Melodic Symphonic Metal, heavier guitars, nice rhythmic section, excellent keyboard, and melodic & clean vocal.
