Seita - Asymmetric Warfare album cover

Are the streets of Brazil are violent and intrusive? Maybe you should check out the anger that has been spawning out of the belly of the beast from all of the locally born and raised Metal bands over the years. I assume that most of you know SEPULTURA right? Yet they aren't the only fierce Metal act that took note that their surroundings drew their blood to boil with hate and disgust of their situation. There is also KRISIUN, but they went even farther into the black and anti religious deliberation to show their own personal hatred to the deep shit their environment sucked them into. I would go on the SEPLUTURA line, along with their worshiped Metal gods of SLAYER, to let you into the world of the Brazilian born, yet based in the cow infested Holland, modern Death / Thrash Metal band of SEITA. Care for some antagonism against the exploration of second grade societies? Their fuel with embrace you with all the resentment you need, yet bring your neck to the party as it is going to hurt.

"Asymmetric Warfare", via SAOL Music, introduced me great extreme kind of Thrash Metal that pretty much reminded me of the great times SEPULTURA had between "Beneath The Remains" and "Chaos A.D.". With an attitude that can only resemble a fist to the face, SEITA rumbled with an aggressive manner that spewed groovy riffing and crushing occasional soloing to the side of fast and mid tempo palm muted down tuned rhythms while the overhead drumming tormented with strong snare and base drum attacks as if there is no tomorrow. The whole lot of evil and inner corruption of the ugly side of the human entity must be shown in full without reprises. That is what I have always liked in the South American attitude, especially the Brazilian kind, the will to speak one's mind against things that hurt brought bands like SEITA to lash out at the world with the same aggressive nature they experienced in their past lives. "Know Your Enemies", a song that I truly embraced that shows that there is no end to the suspicion and how there are always people, some of close, the just adore on showing their rotted side behind your back, that is why you have to know your enemies. Musically, this is Thrash just the way I liked it, unlike the American style, there is no NWOBHM but only a sense of violence that is the magic of the South American approach and that is to always show the ugly side of the truth but with raised fists to let everyone know you are furious. "The Riot Starter Inside Of Everyone", the social decay announcer, is a great massive song in the same manner of the former, it really chops with no remorse. It actually reminded me of classic stuff out of "Chaos A.D." but with a modern flavour that provided additional brutality to the mix. Though not that complex, I liked the guitar work on this one.

Generally, I can on and on and try to explain the songs, yet I think that you would rather go and listen to the album than reading my babbling. There is something about social oriented Metal, especially the South American version that can keep chained if it's done well. In the case of SEITA, there is no question that the massive dish is served steaming and tasty. As an old school fan, I suggest you to try to gulp this release even if it has many modern indications. Sometimes even those can do well than harm.
