Forlorn

SEEDNA was born in 2011 in Sweden when brothers Erik and Emil (previous) Svensson wanted a way to release pent up anger, aggravation along with some emotional venting. After the release of three full-length albums and many other compilations and releases, SEEDNA is back with their forth full-length album "Forlorn". This album is a product of sever growing pains, but the band came out stronger for the lessons learned. This album comes in with seven tracks and an hour and seven minutes of listening time.
The opening track "Hourglass" starts off low and slow. While the tune becomes harder, it remains slow and steady. There is a feeling of doom, but the guitars are sexy. The lyrics are spoken with a deep, forlorn voice. These are words of wisdom for those who choose to listen.
"Wander", track two, comes in at over twenty-two minutes of listening time. It is quite a track, even for those known long tracks. It starts out heavy and gritty and by the end it's fast and hard, but still keeps the heavy all the way through. All while the middle has created a wonderful hodge-podge of elements. The vocals have a grit to them, but a fluid and flowy way, but it's the instrumentals throughout the track the shine through. The end is soft and almost holy. Which leads beautifully into track three.
Track three, "Passage", starts of slow and has a hint of classical likeness to it. It lasts for most of the track with light whisperings in the background, but nothing audible. With just about a minute left, the low, whispered, and raspy vocals came in, as an almost prayer feel. This is the softest and perhaps most different track on the album. This track alone shows the musicianship this band holds.
"Abyssus", track six, is another long track coming in right at eleven minutes and thirty seconds. At about half the time of the second track, there is harder and heavier elements mixed in this track. The vocals are more powerful and less grit faced. All of the elements in this track are combined and create a masterful track. At about five minutes left in the track, the tone softens a bit and creates a slower atmosphere. With about four minutes left, the guitar and bass absolutely shred this track. The drums play a crucial part in keeping the doomy effect alive. The track ends with urgently depressed vocal that helps round out a sound of agony. The guitars here, while soft, kill it. They make a good track into a grade A track.
The final track on "Forlorn" is "O". Track seven is the shortest of the album, coming in at just over two and a half minutes. This track ends out the album on a short and sobering note. The instrumental is beautifully done. The soft elements amplify the energy from the rest of the album.
SEEDNA's "Forlorn", is written well and has a subdued pissed off energy that is brought about and finished with a track that brings that energy down and grounds it. The album as a whole is really good, but the ending gives it life. If you like an Atmospheric Metal, check these guys out.
