Seagrave - Stabwound album cover

First of all, I must admit my happiness knowing I am reviewing a band that is linked, founded and rooted within great bands such as KARG and HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY; being a fan of them will never influence my point of view and my personal opinion of whole concept. Hailing us from Austria, home of the great SUMMONING, comes a band that is strongly rooted into Post Black Metal and Hardcore subs. Founded, as a project band, in 2014 by a vocalist of already named bands, by a prophet of the words, of the brutally painful growls - Jay Trainwreck.

This whole manifest of emotions, now and then utter pain and sorrow yet aggression, starts with a fine lay - "Pillage de Tombe"; perfect example of the combo of genres within SEAGRAVE, a Black Metal sound with addition of Hardcore. Now, let get things straight; second songs on the list "Pistanthrophobia" is complete antonym of the first; the whole new amount of new feelings and enjoyment."Harvest on June" - instant recall to HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY's labor, but no, I am not calling this out a a copy, not at all. A war of Shoe-gaze and Post Black Metal is just perfect and I fell in love with this. The 6th song and album's outre is "Bonjour Trisresse" - another song that caught my eye, my thoughts and inner self. A depression and sorrowfulness living inside this song is just something you need to see, then the sound, the backing tunes, a beautiful Post Black Metal, just encore, encore.

If you are a human being in constant search for new, promising, heavy and brutal, infernal and feral bands, this finding with hit you to the tops. What could I say to bring SEAGRAVE closer to you? Do you happen to love some New Wave Black Metal, happen to hear of bands such as HYPOMANIE, GERM, A LIGHT IN THE DARK, FROM the SUNSET, FOREST and GRIEF, SKYFOREST, KALD and IIDRA, then you will love this, this album, this band. My only mind to this, as a fan of world behind Post Metal sub-genres, will be a huge number of bands I found similarity to and I think Jay Trainwreck is someone who can be a unique unit; at the end of the day I would love to take a copy, place it in my laptop and fall asleep with it playing in the corner of my room.
