A re-release of six re-mastered songs from the 2018 EP, three songs that were recorded in 2020 and one single from 2015 that is included as a bonus track, SCARS - "Trust No One," makes sense so far. Remastered by Dan Swano and recently signed with Worm Hole Death Records, this team effort with a new and improved roster in this Norwegian band has given us something fresh, let's see how it stacks up in 2022. Founded by Ole Olsen in 2013, his focus was "straight forward and catchy, melodic metal," according to the band's biography. After a couple of line-up changes and some delays in their European tour due to COVID, this latest will give us a complete band history on one album.

Growling clearly along with the melody, the title song sets a mood but with an almost calming touch. It is not crazy fast, you are just grooving right along, making it is a nice opener. "Eye For an Eye," is another sensible title, it is what follows with its repetitive and rhythmic lyrics. Singing and then story telling carries you through until the end. This is where the backup singers come in, number three, all very similar and join in on the chorus, "Echoes from The Past," similar to the last in its repetition. Moonshine comes in to play on the next track, picking up speed on horseback. A drunken tale of cat calls.

We get a whole new animal with "Volcano," dare I say better? Different and enjoyable, one of my favorites so far. The same thing follows and then we get another fresh start with "Hail the Fallen," a war story. Soon after, an officer leads the troops into battle, making things a little more intense. Quite a bit more intense, to be exact. For me, better. Wrapping it up with the bonus track, "Heart Of Emptiness," it changes in style again. Nice, but it is hard to follow the last two songs, again, two more of my favorites. This one gets better as it goes and I enjoyed listening to its progression all of the way through. I am curious to hear more of the current members and what they produce in the future when they get the chance to further influence their style as a band. This is just a sample; I am expecting more good things.
