This past week's I've gotten tired of the new "modern" sounding Metalcore and melodic Death Metal coming out. It's all basically a different brand of vodka that tastes exactly the same! But today, I decided to give this Finnish vodka a chance, it's a brand called "Fragile" and it's released by the company SCARM. Well, it's time to pour a glass, add some lime, and see what it tastes like, being the Middle Eastern drunk that I am.
To describe how our mates here sound like, I suggest we buy some IN FLAMES and mash them so hard and sprinkle some AS I LAY DYING very smoothly. Now harden them into a round shaped CD and play it on your sound system, and listen closely.
I'll avoid track by track review, and go straight to the point. The CD is very entertaining, and has very few flaws. Its flaws can be that it can get very repetitive and lacks any originality in today's scene. And its positives are that it's a perfect fit for fans of the genre, and it manages to come out brutal, melodic, and entertaining.
The band borrows influenced from the early Metalcore scene and fuses modern sounding In Flames with their sound pretty well. I'm sure if you're not a traditional old school Metalhead, you're not going to sit and complain about the sound, because it's damn fun to listen to. I salute the band for their effort.
Sadly, I put them on the 'generic' shelf in my cabinet. I'm sure I'll come back for another listen, but after 2 listens, I didn't get any serious impression about the overall sound. If you like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and some nice Melodic Death Metal go ahead and pick this up!
