Scale The Summit

October 14, 2015
Coming from Houston, Texas, USA and bringing the sound of Progressive Rock packed into an instrumental form, these five lads released their 5th manifest titled "V", in September, 2015. The team behind this project tagged with a simple letter, or a Roman number, feel free to interpret by yourselves, is one amazing and well-known roaster.
Two years after their very successful album "The Migration", guys from SCALE THE SUMMIT gathered the team and laid the album that apparently seems to be a new direction in band's history.
"V" has to offer something new and a slight battle between previous works; a combo of jazzy tunes dwelling between Rock and Metal sound based on Prog. In some moments of the album there are heavier spots that aren't so common for their former deeds, but in general, I find as a read where you can freely put yourself into a comfy chair and relax.
Kicking of with a "The Winged Bull" a very very bright and jolly tune, and somehow during it you get the feeling of being sucked into a filter of already seen Prog sound you're used to. If you're a dweller of Progressive MetalRock, Prog in general, you'll find this album an ease of a thematic system, rooted pattern with joyful and fun approach (check the vids, you'll understand). Anywhere you'd look inside this story you will, most surely, find a theme, a path, a high-way road lads have put and dashed along; songs, one by another tells you a fable in sections, parts and they transfuse the rhythm. The song I find as a top, an upper limit of SCALE THE SUMMIT is "Blue Sun", song number nine. A heavier one, an awesome energy and the feeling of dizziness that has been brought by the riffic repeating, and highly presence of Mark's Bass; don't get lost at the end of first 3rd with that pipe-way bridge where things enter an entirely new dimension. That same spectra of a new approach delivered by guitar-tapping section is just amazing and very melodic for Prog system. Songs that will most sure caught your attention are "Soria Moria", "Kestrel" with the 80's Rock interdiction mixed with NW Progressive sound and an amazing solo at the middle - like you're listening to G'n'R under influence of some heavy substances (the metaphor only).
Finally, an album with an amount of ups and its little downs, diversity and uncommonness; I enjoyed listening to this and suggest you to try it out.
