Dark & Dangerous

Savage Master

Because I have to say that as far as “Dark & Dangerous” is concerned, I now have heard better, stronger and more coherent songs from SAVAGE MASTER than ever before. The songs are not only positive in their aura, they are also executed and recorded to a perfect standard, with an outstanding sound to boot.

Sometimes you encounter bands that are able to give you a sense of stability, that come to the surface at regular intervals. SAVAGE MASTER is one of those bands. Why is that so? Because they are able to give us new music to listen to every three years. Since their start in 2013 these Americans from Louisville in Kentucky give us a new dose of Heavy Metal, or if you will NWOTHM. Okay, there was only two years between the debut “Mask Of The Devil” (2014) and their sophomore album “With Whips And Chains” (2016). Since then, we got “Myth, Magic and Steel” (2019), “Those Who Hunt At Night” (2022) and now “Dark & Dangerous” (28 March 2025). And you know what, they are quite a unique band, as they get better with every album. How many bands are able to put that in their biography?

Well, SAVAGE MASTER can do that if they wish, as I for one really do believe that they are improving musically as well as vocally. Let me start by saying that if you want your Heavy Metal to radiate a very distinctive positive vibe, you really need to listen to “Dark & Dangerous”. Somehow all the riffs in combination with the vocals gives you a sense of ultimate positivism, unconsciously putting a smile on your face. Not only that, but singer Stacey Savage not only has a voice that is still getting stronger, on “Dark & Dangerous” she is also much more in sync with the Heavy Metal than ever before. That makes listening to the music and accepting its quality a lot easier.

You know how we sometimes mention that the albums that become classics might be good when you first start listening to them, they still have the ability to grow on you over time. I now realise that that is exactly what “Dark & Dangerous” is doing to me while I am typing this review. It gets better with very listening session. I therefore now have to adjust my ratings up some more. I can’t promise this will be the last time, though. I believe SAVAGE MASTER have struck gold with “Dark & Dangerous”.
