Black Metal can be seen as a form of music by some people (something that can be said as 'play-music-and-speak-of-Satan-instead-of-flowers'), but for others is a way to express deeper feelings and even spiritual ideas. In the last group, the Finnish entity called SATURNIAN MIST can be found, as is clearly expressed on the songs of the ritual called "Shamatanic". They play a form of Finnish Black Metal (aggressive, nasty, intense, with tempos sometime fast, on other more in a slow format) filled with many musical hooks. But the ritualistic appeal comes from the use of very good percussive parts, and from the charming melodies inherited from traditional Heavy Metal (as can be heard on the solos and riffs of "Altar of Flesh and Blood"). Musically, it's not extremely complex, but it's not so simple, but the aggressive energy they summon is really amazing.

The production is another inheritance from traditional Finnish Black Metal: the rough and crude sonority with definition that enables the fans to understand what's being played and expressed by the band. It could be better in terms of the instrumental tunes, but it's not bad. "Ill-Mystic" is nasty, brutal and catchy due the use of slow tempos (what shows a very good work on bass guitar and drums, along very good percussive parts), the fast approach used on "Chaos is the Law" (the cutting-throat guitars riffs are amazing in every moment, and the sinister melodic touch comes from them) and on "The Manifestation", the intense nasty hooks shown on the melodies of "Altar of Flesh and Blood" (where the melodic guitars are contrasting in a great form with the nasty screams and snarling vocals), the somber and atmospheric "The End Times", and the mastodonic and oppressive weight of "Shamatanic" (fine ritualistic moments, using wisely the percussive parts) are their finest moments, but all the songs are amazing.

Let some chaos enter your boring days, it's just a question to listen to "Shamatanic" and to let yourself be guided by the dark arts summoned by SATURNIAN MIST.
