Southern Black Spells
Satanic Ripper

Chile and Argentina and, here, Brazil are the three more "Metal"countries from South America. And Extreme Metal bands are a tradition here, and we have a lot of good bands like KRISIUN and SEPULTURA, for example. It's a Thrash/Black Metal band from Chile, SATANIC RIPPER, that is releasing its first album, called "Southern Black Spells" with 11 tracks.
The first song has eight minutes that I think it's unnecessary, because you think you are listening to three or four songs instead of one! It's obvious they are influenced by ancients like VENOM and HELLHAMMER playing an Old School song in actuality. Unfortunately, the production isn't the best; because you've got the impression the band is playing live in a small and airless place and it's not a good beginning for them. The grunts vocals from Unholy are strange and due the bad production you think he has a potato in his mouth and you don't understand anything. Ok, he's from Chile and the Spanish accent is very strong, like my accent speaking English, but if you write, sing in English, your accent might be good or understandable.
The lyrics talks about occult themes, like magic, Satanism and related subjects, and if you like these themes, you can relate to their lyrics.
Once again, due the bad production you can talk about the grubby guitar or the nonexistent bass. The drums are the only thing you can listen to properly - and the vocals - and for me Old Ripper is making a good effort: not more or less than it's requested in his style. Songs like "Sexual Schizophrenia", "Satanic Ripper" and "Insane Satanic Screams", save (it's an ironic save that I wrote, please) the album. The other songs come across as lifeless copies.
I really appreciate the different, the new, the unexplored and this band doesn't bring anything of it to us. It's more of the same, nothing new at all.
