I'm The Devil
Satan Worship
True or false, I guess anything would end up being as nothing more than assumption, but hey it is the music business after all. Bringing the occult to the table in a filthy manner, works almost every time, drawing the gristle demonstration of Metal at its rawest of forms, because Satan has also something to say. Created by a duo of infectious demons, out goes the new Blackened Speed Metal act SATAN WORSHIP, enslaved by SODOMIZER's Leatherface as its front, a dangerous meeting of occultists from Brazil and Germany. The first draw of blood for the lord downstairs came knocking in the image of "I'm The Devil", out for the masses via Iron Shield Records. The evil form of Metal has a bag load of distributions, some are rougher and some less, yet all are putrid as hell and crunchier as bestial speed can be. Let us pray.
Bound by the arts of Speed Metal, the satanic damnation of SATAN WORSHIP descended into hell's maw. True to the old school, I found various of influences that might lead you to gruesome acts as SARCOFAGO and DESTROYER 666, yet with a much deeper entanglement with VENOM and early EXCITER. The wildfire speed can be an addictive drug, so an overdose is imminent. However, above all, this band is no less than a fistful of MOTORHEAD breath of tainted full throttle menace. Leaving out Leatherface's screechy vocals of vehemence, the old British essence is there to feast and plunder. Before reaching the foot to the gas pedal, the intro "Holy Blasphemy" helped ascertain the aura, ready for the legion's attack upon heaven's gates, and from there on, and invasion was at hand.
The material bestowed is engraved by simplistic riffs and minimalistic songwriting that puts everything out in the open with ease, as if to just sit back and take pleasure upon the blackness. The reality is that more or less, the album reprises itself, not showing much other than a concentration of speeding without much attention for quality. Nevertheless, don't be wrong, there are a few promises that left an impression to keep going. I liked "Zodiac Overkill", which is probably one of the foremost blackened speed songs that truly honored MOTORHEAD, a sheer killer on the loose without a grudge for its deeds. "Satanik Possession" and "The Last Days of Paul John Knowles" ensured that among those tedious manifestations within this release, there is a source of true evil to latch yourself into. Crushing head on and without mercy, these are two demonstrations of pure energy.
I never minded the recursions that paved the road for Speed Metal's existence, especially in the blackened form. SATAN WORSHIP are showing the fundamentals, yet not making even the slightest move out of them. In their case, it didn't end well as it could have been. You be the judge.
