Sahg - Delusions Of Grandeur album cover

Sometimes reviewing releases is very easy, like when Steinmetal will send me some band that either absolutely kick ass, or absolutely shit the bed. That's a no brainer. Just a paragraph or two about how much I loved / hated it, funny intro, summation and I am done.

Sometimes I get a release like SAHG's "Delusions Of Grandeur". It's tough to say why I didn't enjoy these songs fairly.  It's quite clear all four members of SAHG are proficient with their instruments. At times their musicianship is impressive. It is a very well recorded and produced release.

But I just didn't care for it. I understand lyrically "Delusions Of Grandeur" is a concept album, but to me, it all just sounded like "The Final Countdown" by EUROPE.  Flying in space, universe, and speed of light.... I glazed over fast. Olav Iversen didn't commit any musical crimes with his vocals, and he can sing, but music is more than just a sum of its parts. It is possible for good musicians and a good singer to make a boring release that isn't worth the time.

I would recommend this release for anyone that likes SYBREED, but wished they would slow down and glam it up a little.
