SADHAYENA is a Heavy Metal band from Nantes, France. The band released their debut album in 2017. Now, three years later, their second album "Mist of Fury" has arrived and it expands all across Melodic Metal subgenres. For me, it hovered more toward the heart and soul of the Nu-Metal era, the early-mid 2000s (2004-2009 give or take a year or so) mixed with pure Heavy Metal.

"Inhibitor 1.3" is a mood setting instrumental intro track that pulls you right into the second track "Dance Like a Marionette". The latter track has quite a playful feel to it melodically. The riffs do create a 'pulling the puppet by the strings' feel with how the notes dance and bounce about. "Mr. Gein" takes on a Post-Grunge/Nu-Metal vibe with the rebellious gritty attitude throughout. The vocal stylings, including the harmonized portions make me reminiscent of the Nu-Metal days of the early mid 2000s, but the almost dramatic guitar solo bits keep it pure Metal. "Hit Me Harder" keeps it Nu-Metal with the distorted vocals and angst-fueled lyrics. The riffs remind me of PANTERA at points, especially at that totally pissed off chorus line and the solo/bridge section. The way the song breaks down near the end and that riff plus kick drum thrums just right made the end of the song hit HARD. (pun partially intended)

"Night Eternal" shifts the mood into a totally different direction from the previous track. The song begins slowly with a vocal melody that has an almost middle eastern feel. The song takes off after that and becomes a much more 'in your face' vibe, keeping that flowing middle eastern style riff. The melody shifts were really interesting in this one; very DAGOBA inspired!  "Protect Your Back" brings some syncopated vocals that remind me of earlier era STONE SOUR. The lyrics were a bit unnerving, glad this was a shorter song on the album although the shredfest at the end was cool. "Creeping Love" goes more traditional Metal with some heavier vocals and chuggy riffs. "Obsessed" had whirling guitars and a blend of clean and screamed vocals in a way that reminded me a lot of SLIPKNOT. The breakdown in the middle really built the danger and unsettling nature of the lyrics together, then the solo really created the chaotic mindset of the storyteller of the song. "Fools" was just a badass pure early 2000s style Metal track with some rad riffs worth banging your head to. The closing track "My Stars" is like a PANTERA and SLIPKNOT final form with some Trad Metal guitar solo added in.

All and all, SADHAYENA has a really solid sound. They blend Nu-Metal, Traditional Metal, with plenty of Melodic Metal elements into overall enjoyable album. I like the variations of how much of their preferred subgenres were in every song, it kept their sound interesting as the songs went along. The energy in each song is pretty infectious as well. "Mist of Fury" is a fun, headbang-worthy sort of album with just a slight nostalgia factor for Nu-Metal fans like myself.
