Death Metal/Grindcore band SACRIFICIAL SLAUGHTER formed in California, USA, in 2001. Thy released their debut full-length in 2002, but it wasn't until 2009 when they signed to a record label to release "Spontaneous Suicide." In 2013, they release "The Great Oppression," and now in 2017 present their latest outing; an EP titled "Generation of Terror," which contains five original songs and, as a bonus, a cover song from the band CARNIVORE.

"Systematic Genocide" is the first track. It has a fast pace, but not that ultra-fast you often hear in the Grindcore genre. I would call it Death Metal though there are elements of Thrash and even a little Punk here at times as well. The harsh vocals are done in both a low and high range, and a hypnotic breakdown of sorts carries the track to completion. "Bodies in the Basement" is a bit quicker and clocks in at under three minutes. It has a fierce intensity from blast beat drumming and relentless riffing that threatens to bloody their fingertips. "Meticulous Abomination" hits at two-and-a-half minutes; a brutal affair of devastation and chaos that is heavy and aggressive.

"Generation of Terror" is the title track that begins with a warning siren and marching boots, announcing an impending attack and/or war. When you think about it, the current generation here in the States has really been living under war or the threat war all of their lives. The repugnance of war is reflected in this abusive track with that eerie siren. "Bare Knuckle Beat Down" is just that; a beat-down of deep Death vocals and fast picked guitar riffs that reign down mercilessly, complete with thunderous percussion providing the hammer blows. The CARNIVORE cover "Race War" eludes to the right in American to "hate who you want." Though I disagree with this personally, the song is deep and weighted with anger.

As far as the genre is concerned, this is a fine example of Death Metal with an amalgam of other elements mixed in to keep it sounding modern. It doesn't step outside the box of the genre boundaries much so those who love the style as purists will be pleased with the EP. It is also fused with a lot of energy and plays on those emotions of hate, anger and agony; a sanctuary for Metalheads looking to blow off some stress.
