SACRIFICE THEORY are a German Thrash band from Gelsenkirchen and have in 2017 independently released their first LP - and it suc... I mean, I'm going to review it today.
To sum up the record, these two words do it best: not special. The band utilizes the most basic Thrash formulas and clichés, which - by themselves- wouldn't be much of a problem, if executed correctly. Even if you don't come up with anything new or original, but you use formulas and already laid-down stuff well and make something at least decent out of it, you could get a 6 from me, personally, but this record wasn't so successful in that regard.
Most of it comes off as uninspired and uncreative. I mean guys, are you SURE you wanted to make this album? Did you have fun doing it? Did you put some ACTUAL, REAL thought into it? I'm not trying to offend, just curious. I'm starting to think the problem is with me, because recently, I found that a lot of albums that I get for reviewing to be really stale and not offer anything new, I mean, maybe I'm the one not noticing why these bands are actually good?
Nah, I don't think so. Anyways, there is some enjoyment to be found in "Infected"; some riffs, some tracks - while maintaining that core genericness - at least function as some kind of guilty pleasure; where you know it kinda sucks, but you can't help but to get at least a minimal amount of pleasure out of it. There are some banger riffs and grooves on songs such as "Zombie Monkeys", "Rise of a Demon", and "Unshaved, Unwashed and Broken";"Violent Nightmares" is probably the best one.
I'd give it a solid 6/10, but overall, the record is not at that score yet and made me feel completely indifferent about it.
