Order of Vengeance

RUNESPELL'S newest album "Order of Vengeance" is very old school black metal. The first song is called "Retribution in Iron". At ten minutes it is fairly decent but it is also typical black metal. Next up is "Destiny Over Discord" which is sitting at eight minutes long. The guitar work is pretty bland but the drums make up for it in the long run. It could really do without the echo on the vocals as well. "Claws of Fate" is one of the more upbeat tracks on this depressive Black Metal album. The guitars are way better than on the previous two tracks.
"Nights Gate" is the fourth song which is acoustic and is instrumental only. It is probably my second favorite track on "Order of Vengeance". Up at number five is "Wolf Axis" which has a IMMORTAL feel to it instrument wise. If you are a fan of depressive Black Metal this one is for you. The instruments are very well put together as well as NIGHTWOLFS vocals. The song "Blood Martyr" is the second to last track and my favorite on the album. The guitars are beautiful as well as the vocals. It does its job to help bring the album close to an end.
Finally we have "Pray for Redemption/ Redemption for Prey". With better quality production this song could have been fantastic. It has everything that I love in Black Metal, except for it sounding like it was recorded on an old tape deck. I honestly feel like given time RUNESPELL could become a fantastic band. I will definitely listen to the next album and hope for the best. All in all not a bad album, just nothing really stood out to me. But as I said before, if you like old school Black Metal give this a chance.
