ROTTING EMPIRE growls back to the scene of Death Metal way from Bavaria. The creation of the band took place back in the beginning of millenium, and so far behind them is only an EP "Images Of War" released back in 2007. That makes "Sui Generis" their first full length release.

It may have the main idea of Death Metal, but many other influences can be heard on this release. It goes from Classic Rock to Thrash Metal. It`s all over the place, unified with the main idea of Death Metal, mostly with mid tempo songs and growling vocals. But you find yourself surprised with some powerfull groove oriented songs like "In Rememberance". On the other hand, you have a song based on Heavy Metal - "No Cure", or the songs that at first seem to fall out of the pattern like "Total Self Distruction" or "In This Cold Life" but soon fall back in. All traditions of the genre are fallowed, and well managed. It doesn`t sound too modern or too old fashioned.

"Sui Generis" generally comes with clean sound, guitars sound classical and clean, percussions are powerful and precise, with aggressive vocals. The album is way too polished. It seems that it states "This is how the Death Metal album should sound like". Some things are just way better with all the unperfections. It`s the unperfections that makes them perfect. Groove-heavy classic Death Metal is all that ROTTING EMPIRE is offering. Lyrically quite mature album, but lacking the youth in performace of the compositions, and the elements of shock and surprise.
