Defying The Gods
Rise To Fall

RISE TO FALL defines itself as a modern Melodic Death Metal and I agree 100% with this definition. The use of Keyboards for most of the tracks made the rhythms even more persuasive than most bands that use the Death elements just so they could bring heavy guitar riffs that are too predictable, at least at most cases.
In the album "Defying The Gods", the use of keyboards effects created the story line even better than the lyrics (The story itself) which made the instruments the main storyteller.
Although RISE TO FALL are affected by bands like: IN FLAMES, DISARMONIA MUNDI, SCAR SYMMETERY and SOILWORK. Furthermore, it is more likely you'd listen elements from BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE especially for the vocal parts: the use of harmonics(fortunately, it is not rare on this album).
For the instrumental part: beyond the use of keyboard effects which was surprisingly good, the guitar riffs were incredibly good and the same can be said about the drums as well.
The concept: Who wouldn't want to stand and face the gods or a god? What human thought can't understand is what intrigues us the most. "Defying The Gods", as it sounds, is about the war between the stories that most of us had been told and the doubts or the theories about these stories. The war takes place inside of our beings and between all sorts of experts, religious people and so on. RISE TO FALL came to tell her fans to stop following what they have been told and start to follow what they think it is right for each and every one of them.
In conclusion, RISE TO FALL have managed to create a great sound that describes the biggest question that no one has ever been able to answer in a great story line.
