Aliens have invaded and they are taking the world by force with RINGS OF SATURN as their main weapon! "Dingir" is a certainly not of this world. This Grindcore album is pure chaos from start to finish. If you want to know what it feels like to get your face melted off by some alien laser beam listen to this. "Dingir" is fast as light and I was surprised that a human being could achieve such speed with any instrument. The guitars have lots of flashy intricate pieces throughout the album which never cease to impress me. There are a few okay riffs but most of them are lost in the wall of noise. The vocals go from high pitched screaming to deep guttural growls and you really have to be in the mood to enjoy them otherwise they can be quite distracting, especially the high pitch screams. The first thing that slammed me the face when I put this record on was how thunderous the drums were. They hold an overwhelming presence and are by far the fastest thing on the album. If you listen to the title track you'll hear a bit of electric computer sounds which add a neat little flavor to the album. An issue I had with "Dingir" was that all the songs sounded similar. It was hard for me to tell when one track ended and another began. After 15 minutes of brutality I was bored with it and ready for something else. I did, however, like the closing track "Utopia". It was an instrumental track and the only track I believed was actually created by humans. It had a nice guitar harmony and a much slower pace.

Anybody that plays at the speed these guys can deserves some credit but 40 minutes of that blazing fast music is hard for me to swallow. I'm all for brutal fast music, I love NILE, IMMOLATION, DYING FETUS, DECREPIT BIRTH but those bands make each song sound different and unique. RINGS OF SATURN make songs as fast as they can go and that is impressive at first but doesn't really make me want to listen to it over and over again like a good band would.
