I have the suspicion that Alveran Records has started become something like Metal Blade and Lifeforce. In the past I had the chance to listen to some nice Hardcore releases by them, but what I have seen up to now is only a pile of Metalcore/Deathcore shit. Let's see if RESISTANCE can change my opinion on the label's current policy.

The Belgian act was formed in 2003 and has been spreading its musical vision to the world since then. As they say they started out as a Hardcore band but after some line up changes more influences were brought to the table and they started taking a more Death Metal oriented path and become the Death Metal beast they are today.

It's still a pure mix of extreme Metal like Death and Black and Hardcore parts. Think of a mixture of bands like KATAKLYSM, ALL SHALL PERISH, DESPISED ICON, MACHINE HEAD, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, JOB FOR A COWBOY, even MESHUGGAH and you will have an idea of what to expect.

Let's try to make things clear. These guys don't have KATAKLYSM's groovy Death Metal (not even the hyper fast blasts), they couldn't write MACHINE HEAD's riffs even in their dreams, they don't have HEAVEN SHALL BURN's brutality and they'd surely wish they had MESHUGGAH's out of this world rhythms. They are not a bad band, but they are nothing more than a classic Hardcore act that has mixed its music with some Death Metal elements to make it sound a bit more modern. They manage to sound slightly Deathcore at times, but that's it.

If you ask me, Two Sides Of A Modern World is not the album I would spend my money on. I haven't listened to any of their previous works, but I have this feeling that they sound better than their new album. Anyway, get this album only if you are a fan of this band or you don't mind listening to one more mediocre 'brutal' Hardcore band.
