"To Judge And Enslave" brought by RESISTANCE, a Belgian group thatwas founded in 2004 by Ben and Xerus, is a band that did start out as a hardcore band, but after a couple of member shifts, their music changed direction and now arrived in the Deathcore area or modern Death Metal according to the genre filled in on their Facebook page. Well no matter what...the Death part is there for sure on this brutal album "To Judge And Enslave." The fourth album by RESISTANCE, and just like on their former albums, this album also holds a guest appearance.

The band is inspired by a list of bands, including MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, GOJIRA and VADER, but I can also hear SEPULTURA influences. All together it means that this album's not made for the soft hearted even though "To Judge And Enslave" only takes 36 minutes. But those 36 minutes does include the experience of one EP, three full length albums, five European tours and three headliner tours and if this kind of music's not your cup of tea, be sure that you'll find resistance while listening to this quintet inside their Deathly sound in a not to miss rolling hard and heavy construction.

The main aspect behind RESISTANCE's album "To Judge And Enslave" is to call out your resistance and break through that with all their might set up in rolling drums, guitars, bas and vocals. Vocals that does not only sound understandable harsh, trashy and brutal, but also confronting in a grind kind of way, backed up by experienced players teaming up. So when I did hear this album "To Judge And Enslave" for the very first time I did feel a lot of resistance. Resistance towards many things, including being alive. Once I did break through my resistance, an entire world appeared that I failed to notice right away. A world build by steady players in an organized set up.

The album starts with the song "Decent", a decent song that's rolling out to prepare for what's more to come. The second song "Make Belief Savior" however starts with a scream attached to the rolling sound in an angry and resistant way. Followed by the song "Hordes Of The Damned", that does hold the dark sound of hordes pushing and pulling in a fight to survive and is the longest track of this album. The entire album "To Judge And Enslave" is filled with heavy guitar work, steady rolling drums, strong bass lines and vocals that are varying inside growling, screaming and grunts. But even their 'slower' songs are powerful, strong and great to listen to.

"To Judge And Enslave" is different from earlier RESISTANCE work, also because they did grow as a band inside the music they like to play. And if Deathcore or modern Death Metal is your cup of tea, this album's definitely worth multiple spins.
