Reinxeed - Majestic album cover

The bio sheet for this band describes them as being epic Power Metal. I just love the sound of that. So what exactly do we have here? Well, the bio sheet is 100 percent accurate. The first song starts off with furious double bass thundering and some nice ICED EARTH like riffing. The vocalist is very high pitched, and most importantly, clean. I am a stickler for that .The vocalist really packs quite punch. You will really notice that by the time you get to the third song. The second song, "Invincible", is truly a perfect example of the genre. It's absolutely awesome. Their singer, Tommy Johansson is just wonderful. I keep trying to think of the band this reminds me of in terms of vocals. Perhaps it is Timo Kotipelto from the almighty STRATOVARIUS, a simply amazing band. Tommy must be heard for yourself for you to get what I am saying.

REINXEED is also more than a one tricky pony. They are not always on all out assault mode like DRAGONFORCE tends to be. They mix it up very nicely on this album, showing a nice touch of maturity and professionalism. The keyboard into of the song "Never Lie" is wonderful and is followed by crunchy guitars and sing along multi layered vocal harmonies. The song then gallops along at a mid tempo pace and really impressed me with just how catchy it is. Writing a catchy song isn't easy. The greatest musicians in the world can put out an album of technical flawlessness that quickly puts you to sleep, so we all know there is more to making good music than simply mastering your instruments. I don't want to cite any examples so as to not insult anyone, but I am sure we all have heard a band that can play brilliantly, but cannot write a good song to save their lives. REINXEED can do both amazingly well.

REINXEED is from Sweden. Is there any end to the amazing metal artists streaming out from that great country? It sure seems to be endless and I can only hope it will stay that way for quite some time. It is bands like this that make me wish I lived in another country. In the USA, where I am from, music of this variety simply doesn't exist, so you have to go to Europe in able to find such great bands like REINXEED. I mean, what is not to love when you have a song entitled "Atlantis"? REINXEED has just reminded me of why I love this genre so much. Just when you think you have heard it all, some new band comes out of nowhere and sand blasts your face right off! As I stated earlier though, it is not all rapid fire DRAGONFORCE type thrashers. "Second Chance" is a terrific epic power ballad that shows this band is indeed multifaceted.

If you love Power Metal like I do, or even if you don't, you really owe it to yourself to check this great band out. Go to their MySpace page and give them a listen. Even if you don't get to hear all the songs from this album, at least you get a general idea how the band sounds. Having said that, "Majestic" is most definitely a step up from all previous efforts. Give this band a listen. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed!
