RECKLESS MANSLAUGHTER are a German death metal band formed in 2008. This is their third full album release with the last album coming out all the way back in 2013. They've released a few demos since then but have now returned with a full offering to show what they're all about.

The album doesn't mess around and starts off with "Blast Into Oblivion" and the title does exactly what it says on the tin as we are blasted into the band's world and they refuse to let go of us. Already I love the production side of things as everything just sounds crisp with the vocals being loud enough to be easily heard without compromising the integrity of those chugging guitar riffs. Great opener and a great appetizer for what's to come.

This is then followed up by "Unleash the Spirits of the Fallen" which does slow things down a bit which would normally be a bit unadvisable after such a roaring opening track, but it actually works very well in this spot. It was quite reminiscent of AMON AMARTH'S work and shows that the band can change their style in an instant without compromising their overall sound. The very same can be said for final track of the album, "Funeralmaster" which ends up being the longest song on the album at a daunting 10:57 but ends up being a highlight as it never loses interest in the listener with the consistent time changes. It goes for more of a doom metal sound and wouldn't sound of place on an ELECTRIC WIZARD record.

Another album highlight and a personal favourite of mine was "Vaporized Crucifix" which ended up being surprisingly catchy and I'm always a fan of anything that likes to fight back against religion and it's quite obvious from the song title what the intended message is here. The song is also followed up by the only instrumental track on offer, "Into Unknown Caverns" and normally I'm not too big on instrumental tracks unless they're short and introducing another song, but on my multiple listens this was a track I always looked forward to hearing again as it does a lot with its short three minute runtime and ends up being an album highlight.

Truth be told there isn't a bad song here with every single one bringing something to the table and it made my many listens very easy to get through as I never became tired of it and I think a lot of that is to do with how well paced the album is as there's a nice mix of longer and shorter songs to keep things interesting with the heavily DEATH inspired track "Stiffshifter" at only 2:05 still manages to be yet another highlight.

This is an album I'd recommend as a pickup for any death metal fan as you're bound to find something on here to find as the band appears to have many influences from the past to help make a modern classic. Make sure you don't look these guys over. You'll regret it.
