Razorball - Razorball album cover

Greg Hampton is well known producer and guitarist who has already worked with famous artists and bands like Tommy Bolin, 3 Legged Dogg, Glenn Hughes and Appice to name a few. Greg decided that it was about time to form a band and put some of the songs he had written into a full-length album. In order to do so he brought together three most experienced musicians and this is how the band RAZORBALL was born. The guitar player Reeves Gabrels has been a long term partner with David Bowie producing 8 albums and has also teamed up with Paul Rodgers, Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins among other. Rod Jackson who was the singer in SLASH'S SNAKEPIT for the album Ain't Life Grand and  Stefan Svensson who has worked with John Christ, Graham Bonnet and Tommy Bolin materialized Hampton's idea.
The album has a classic Rock spine and sets foot to several music genres making the listening a most pleasant trip. Sure Won't Hurt You is a classic Rocker with frisky vocals that bring to mind Paul Stanley famous performance with KISS. Funk in the main issue in the groovy tracks What's the Big Secret, Temptation (Walks In) and the almost RED HOT CHILLY PEPPERS tune Where Your Lucky. Jackson's multi-personality voice contributes the most in the album's sound flexibility since it fits perfectly the every song's character. Some blues melodies can also be found in All Waiting For You while country atmosphere becomes vivid in Too Busy Livin and End of the Line that comprises the classic harmonica/banjo duet.
Hampton and  Svensson have done an excellent job in the studio and gave the album a crystal clear sound where the dirty Rock/Blues guitar riffs join the keyboard experimentations. What Do You Want from You and Danger (How Stupid Are You?) top things off reminding the old and teaching the young of a long lost sound that back in the late 80s was called the Hair Spray  scene with bands like CINDERELLA, POISON or even the prime MOTLEY CRUE.
Although the album is nothing groundbreaking, it features some pretty good songs that can accompany the summer nights in pleasant open air places that teem with ice cold beer and beautiful ladies.
