RANNOCH is a melodic / progressive piece from the UK. The name RANNOCH is the name of a secluded wilderness in Scotland. Their sound is slightly unique, and a bit technical. They have a smooth clean quality to their music. The album is complete with plenty of tempo changes, quick drums, screaming guitars, and even some sweet keyboard melodies in between. One thing for sure they have the melodic depth as well as nice n heavy qualities I like in my Metal. The flow of the album is smooth yet all over the place.
The musical talents of this band are quickly heard. The drum work is quite nice. Technical drum beats going from quick double bass, to intricate cymbal and tom work. The drummer is definitely on queue as he switches frequently as the music dictates. The guitar work is quite intricate as well. They are heavy where needed, yet go to sweet tantalizing melodies with ease. The keyboards certainly add quite a depth to their sound as well. As for vocal quality, most are harsh, with clean vocals added in just the right places. All together the album is superbly composed. Every element of the music is smoothly blended to an intricate perfection.
This UK group upon first listen definitely makes and impact. The music is just awesome. From the fast heavy riffs, to the slow melodies that can send you floating away in a black sea of bliss. These guys are on top of their game. The whole album has a wonderful flow to it. It changes up frequently, nothing boring about it. RANNOCH is definitely worth a listen, and then another.
