Here in Brazil, the city of São Luis do Maranhão became the stage of a tragedy on 2012: Metal Open Air festival. It was promised to be the greater Metal festival of all times, three days of Metal to all, but the problems were so intense and the lack of organization turned the sweetest dream of all Metalheads here in our greatest nightmare and national shame. But it happened due the promoters, not the public or Brazilian bands. And in São Luis, there's a very good and strong Metal scene on the city. JACKDEVIL is from there, and now, it's time for a new revelation to come from that land: the Hard Rock quintet PÚRPURA INK. Yes, they're great, and their album, "Breakin' Chains", is something astonishing!

Imagine a fusion done with an aggressive and outrageous insight of Hard Rock of bands like MOTLEY CRUE, KISS and RATT with the power of traditional Heavy Metal of names like IRON MAIDEN and SAXON, some of the modern energy of JUDAS PRIEST, the groove and technique of EXTREME and AOR touches. Yes, this can be named as their formula, but they're way better than my words can describe. Lots of energy and hooking chorus, along with excellent vocals, perfect guitars (both on riffs and solos), and a mighty and heavy rhythmic session. Well, that's it!

The sound quality they got is very good. Ok, it could be a bit better in some points, but the weight and clarity on the album is something very good. And the tunes for each musical instrument are very, very good.

The entire album is perfect, but I dare to name "Breakin' Chains" (a very heavy and catching song, with very good vocals), "Lifestyle" (a Sleazy/Hard Rock punch in the bellies, having great chorus, fine guitars and bass presence), "Let Me Say" (a power and heavy song, seeming like a ballad, and with a strong Bluesy touch), the almost AOR "Flying Always" (their most accessible song, with very good keyboards), the raw Hard Rock called "Bitter Wishes", and the hooking "Something to Believe" (another very accessible song, showing again excellent chorus and fine work on drums).

These guys made many efforts to record this album, and now, it's here for us all.<
