For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh (Reissue)

Death Metal is honestly among my most disliked metal sub-genres, there are literally no bands that I can get into. Tech-Death is the only Death genre that I legit like, but even my affection for TD is pretty superficial. So this whole PUNGENT STENCH stuff was off to a not-so-good start. And then, I gave a few listens to the reissue of their debut LP, "For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh", and I must say, it was kind of surprising...
The album's kickoff track, "Intro/Extreme Deformity" is basically everything the album itself is. If you don't like that song, just simply stop listening to the whole thing, because it's not for you. And I'm pretty sure that's more of a negative than a positive, because the band shows everything they have to offer with this record in the first track. And what is it that they have to offer? Groovy drumming and mostly slower-than-usual riffs, a very fat (and good) guitar tone, nice production that fits the music well, overall fun music that'll get you to headbang. Quick fun, nothing really deep or complex, but I don't think that's something the band wanted to do with this LP, so no problem with that at all. What I do have a problem with is the same thing which I hate about Death Metal in general. The vocals. No intensity, no authenticity, boring, and genuinely uninteresting to listen to. And Don Cochino is unfortunately no exception. Especially the production on his vocals, it's not that it's demo quality, the problem is that it already sounds like shit, and if you mix already shit sound to be low-quality, surprise, surprise, it's going to be COMPLETE SHIT. It almost ruins the whole experience, and the instrumental work of the other members can't make up for it completely. Shame.
So, overall, this record was pretty decent musically, horrible vocally, and had mostly nice production. I found more enjoyment than boredom in it, so I'll give a solid 7.
